Dean Ackerman is a proud Rutgers Honors alumna who is thrilled to have come full-circle and be advising Honors students at her alma mater. Dean Ackerman was a Douglass Scholar, earned her B.A. in Spanish, minored in Psychology, and was in the Graduate School of Education 5-year Ed.M. program in K-12 ESL & Foreign Language Education. As an undergrad, she was involved with residence life, Greek life, new student recruitment & orientation, intramurals, and studied abroad in Spain. After realizing her involvement on campus translated to a passion for working with college students, she switched paths and earned her Ed.M. in College Student Affairs at Rutgers, where she also served as a graduate assistant in New Student Orientation. Prior to joining SAS Honors, Dean Ackerman advised undergrad and graduate computing students at the New Jersey Institute of Technology. Dean Ackerman lives close to campus with her husband, a Rutgers alumnus, and three adorable kids. In her free time, she enjoys traveling, reading, being outdoors, taking dance classes, trying to learn new languages, and attending RU sporting events. She looks forward to helping SAS Honors College students make the most of all that Rutgers has to offer!
