Professor Akash Kumar Sengupta is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science and a member of the CS Theory group (https://theory.cs.rutgers.edu/) at Rutgers. His research is at the intersection of Mathematics and Theoretical Computer Science, in particular in the areas of algebraic geometry, number theory, complexity theory, coding theory and quantum computation. His research approaches problems through an algebraic-geometric lens and he is excited about developing algebraic-geometric techniques to solve problems in TCS and other areas of Mathematics. Before joining Rutgers in 2025, he held postdoctoral positions at the University of Waterloo and Columbia University. He received his PhD in Mathematics from Princeton University in 2019. In his spare time, he enjoys playing pickleball, board games, and music.
