Professor Matikainen-Ankney is an assistant professor in the psychology department. Her lab studies the neurobiology of obesity and how the brain changes in lasting ways to promote obesity as a chronic disorder. We use modern neuroscience techniques including optogenetics, chemogenetics, and in vivo brain recordings during behavior. She tries to provide mentorship and guidance to my students in the hope that they go on to bigger and better things, and with the belief that a rising tide lifts all boats.
