Faculty Mentor

Professor Shadi Tahvildar-Zadeh is a professor in the Department of Mathematics. He received his PhD in Mathematics from Courant Institute, NYU, in 1991. Before joining Rutgers in the year 2000, he was an assistant professor at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, and at Princeton University. Professor Tahvildar-Zadeh’s research is in Mathematical Physics. He works at the interface between General Relativity (Einstein’s theory of gravitation) and Quantum Mechanics. He firmly believes that Mathematics holds the key to unlock the mysteries of the Physical Universe. Professor Tahvildar-Zadeh has extensive experience working with and mentoring students at all levels. He is currently collaborating with 12 undergraduate students on multiple research projects. Several of the papers he has written jointly with his undergraduate research associates have already appeared in refereed scientific journals.
