Faculty Mentor

Professor Devanshi Jain is an assistant professor in the Department of Genetics. Her research concerns gametogenesis, the process by which germ cells undergo meiosis and differentiate to generate gametes. She also strives to understand how defects in gametogenesis lead to infertility, miscarriage and birth defects. To this end, she uses genetic, molecular and genomic approaches in mice to study the regulation of gametogenesis. Her lab work aims to uncover new molecules involved in meiosis and to acquire a mechanistic understanding of their functions and contributions to gametogenesis.
