The Museum of the City of New York fosters understanding of the distinctive nature of urban life in the worlds most influential metropolis. It engages visitors by celebrating, documenting, and interpreting the citys past, present, and future. This trip includes a guided tour of Activist New York, an exhibition that explores the drama of social activism in New York City from the 17th century right up to the present. We will play close attention to its newest case study, An Accessible City for All-- Activists have continued to mobilize for access to the citys built environment, created resources to live independent visible lives, and formulated a proud disability identity. In the process, they made a more inclusive city for all, and helped expand thinking about the diversity of human bodies and minds. This off-campus experience includes roundtrip transportation.
